For convenience and clarity, the characters are arranged in a logical order. They are separated into families. The names are color-coded by generation, and children are grouped under their parents and indented. The children's children are grouped under their parents and further indented. This helps to make the relationships clear at a glance. Non-family characters associated with a family are placed at the bottom of that family section under the heading "Others."

Chairman of the Board of Reynolds Publishing, a closely held corporation. Married Martha Peterson. Staunch libertarian. In recent years, dedicates most of his effort to his news magazine, The Vantage Point, letting his son Alex run the rest of the company. Martha Reynolds Age 66. Was John's childhood sweetheart. They marriied, and she became an editor for Reynolds Books Division, helping him build the company to its present size. She is shrewd and capable. When John started The Vantage Point, she became involved heavily in that. She and John still keep an eye on what Alex is doing, although they seldom interfere. --- Ruth (Reynolds) Richardson Age 40. Married to Mark Richardson. Does not work. Two sons, James and Paul. --- Mark Richardson Age 45. U.S. Congressman from Arizona. A libertarian who runs as a Republican. He and Ron Paul from Texas are essentially the only Republicans in Congress that look out for their constituents and speak out against the trangressions of the current Republican administration. Articles by both Congressmen often appear in John's magazine. -------- James Richardson Age 20. Son of Ruth and Mark. In last year of college. Works for Reynolds Publishing during the summers. Being prepped for job as an ssociate editor. -------- Paul Richardson Age 18. Son of Ruth and Mark. Freshman in college. Resisting going into the publishing business. Wants to be a writer. Feels he shouldn't have any trouble getting published. --- Alex Reynolds Age 46. Married Elizabeth Baker. CEO of Reynolds Publishing. Two children. Frances and Steven. --- Elizabeth Reynolds Age 45. After working for Madison Avenue for several years, became a firebrand libertarian. Finally dropped out and lived as a hermit, writing for libertarian and guns-rights organs. Some of her articles were picked up by one of John's magazines. When Alex happened to be in Arizona, visiting Ruth, John asked him to try and convince Elizabeth to come and talk to him about a full-time job. One thing led to another and they were married. She still writes for John regularly. -------- Frances Reynolds Age 22. Just completing her Master's degree in Architecture. -------- Steven Reynolds Sophomore in college. Studying Business Administration. Planning on working for Reynolds Publishing. --- Genevieve (Reynolds) Newcomb age 48 Married Clark Newcomb against her parent's wishes. No children. --- Clark Newcomb Age 47. A fortune hunter who took advantage of Genevieve's vulnerability. He holds down a job with Reynolds Publishing, barely. William Cochran Age 71. Illegitimate son of Joshua Reynolds. Married Hannah Levenson of a wealthy banking family. Politically liberal. Extremely wealthy. Four children: Aaron, Simon, David, and Sara. Hanna Levenson Cochran Age 68. Not as dumb as her husband thinks she is. Active in many charitable organizations (with Gwen at times.) Keeps up with current events via the internet. Is cognizant of most of what her husband is doing. Doesn't necessarily approve, but she loves him. He is loving with her, and she repays him with her allegiance. She can and does influence him on those rare occasions when she thinks it absolutely necessary. --- Aaron Cochran Age 37. Married Gwen Morrison. CEO of Levenson Merchant's Bank. Three children. Esther, William, and Robert.- --- Gwen Morrison Cochran Age 36. Active in charities. Both Aaron and Simon had wanted to marry her. She cared for both of them, but was nearly decided in favor of Simon, when she discovered Simon had spent a weekend with another woman. She abruptly accepted Aaron's offer and married him, returning from her honeymoon pregnant with Esther. Later she found that the Simon's weekend had been quite innocent. -------- Esther Cochran Bolton Age 13. Daughter of Sicilian multimillionaire, Enrico Nucci, reputed to have connections with the Cosa Nostra. Very possessive of Simon. Hot-tempered. She immediately set records for sales and attracted his attention and later his attentions. They dated, had a whirlwind courtship, and married. Stanley Worthington Age 70. Married Janet Ingrahm. Former Assistant Director of the CIA. His name linked to numerous "Black Ops" scandals. His companies thrive on government contracts. He is reputed to still be involved in CIA clandestine operations of many sorts, including drug smuggling, gun running, and money laundering, among others. He is extremely well-connected with both political parties, although he calls himself a conservative. Three children: Roger, Benjamin, and Geraldine. Janet Worthington Age 66. Sweet, loving wife, which Stanley married because of her great wealth and influential relations. Marrying her gave him a big boost in his quest for great fortune. To his credit, he is a faithful husband and treats her well. She has little idea of the extent of the family fortune or how it came about. She takes no interest in such things. --- Roger Worthington Age 46 Married to Patricia Dawson. CEO of numerous small companies. Two children: Harry and Carol. --- Patricia Worthington Age 45 Former model. Works undercover for the CIA, through a front company that is supposed to help American companies wanting to do business in the Middle East. -------- Harry Worthington Age 24. Yale graduate. Skull and Bones. Works with his father. Slowly increasing responsibilities. -------- Carol Worthington Age 22. Graduate Wharton School of Business. Works with Benjamin. --- Benjamin Worthington Age 45. Married to Rachel White. The financial mastermind of the Worthington family. He steers their investments and plots their course as to what fields to enter or exit. He walks with a limp, due to a birth defect. Two children: Phillip and Edmond. --- Rachel White Worthington Age 44 Authoress. Benjamin heard her being interviewed on the radio and was taken by her intellect and ability to speak. He read her book and was determined to meet her. He finally managed to meet her, courted her, and married her. Continues to write on political matters. -------- Phillip Worthington Age 22 Bachelor's degree from Yale in Business Administration. Completing MBA. -------- Edmond Worthington Age 21. Senior at Yale. Majoring in Business Administration. --- Geraldine Worthington Gardner Age 43. Married David Gardner. Geraldine has a degree in Computer Science. She started to work after graduation. A few years later, she married the owner of the company and quit working. She is a well-known conservative. She has a well-equipped computer room in her home, from which, she does extensive research for her popular conservative web site. Her ardent support of the current president baffles even her conservative family. No children. --- David Gardner Age 47. Owner of Gardner Stronghold Software, manufacturer of secure software for business and industry. Devoted husband to Geraldine. A multi-millionaire in his own right. --- Jane Worthington Age 42. Divorced. Jane had been the black sheep of the family, getting pregnant when she was nineteen and unmarried. Stanley and Janet had been shocked but supportive. Stanley struck a deal with the man, who was fifteen years older than Jane. There was a quiet marriage, an equally quiet divorce, and a permanent disappearance on the part of the father. -------- Astrid Worthington Age 22. Not married. Her mother and most of her family think she is probably a lesbian, although they have no concrete evidence. She has lived with three different female housemates, and she has not, to anyone's knowledge, been seriously involved with a man. |
