Introduction to Our Tangled Web
Our Tangled Web is an update of an idea that was popular, before the days of television, in numerous magazines and Saturday afternoon at the movies: the serial. These were the predecessors of TV programs we call series and mini-series. Many famous writers had their novels published in serial form in weekly magazines.
Our Tangled Web is published on the World Wide Web, with its many advantages. Since the story is set in the present, why not make use of the props provided by day-to-day events? We do. If our characters talk about something that happened recently, we will usually provide one or more links to articles about events mentioned, in case the reader is interested. We may sometimes extend the practice to events past or even speculations about the future. We insert an occasional image to help the reader visualize the scene, or, perhaps, to set the mood. If you put your cursor on one of the images, you will usually see a title for it, and sometimes your cursor turns into a hand, indicating that it has an associated link, usually to the source of the image.
To provide the information about current events in an incidental manner is the primary reason for Our Tangled Web's existence. It is hoped that millions of people will read Our Tangled Web and visit most of the linked sites, making them quite aware of what is really going on in the world. Obviously, we don't think people can reach that state by reading the daily paper, watching the evening news on television, or hearing the couple of minutes of headlines on the hour, while driving. If we thought that were possible, we wouldn't go to all this trouble.
The schedule for new episodes is not as fixed as those for a TV series. We will try to publish them on a regular basis, but we don't have a roomful of writers—only one. Bi-weekly is the target, and more often, if possible.
Free - Donate There is no direct charge for these episodes, because widespread awareness of what is happening in the world versus what could be happening under happier circumstances is worth more to us than money, so far. That being said, we ask that, after a number of episodes, you consider whether they have been of value to you. If so, please feel free to donate a little to keep the author alive. The Paypal donation panel, on the left, allows you to donate via your Paypal account or any major credit card.

The names of the items on the Main Menu are somewhat self-explanatory.

Furthermore, the current or latest episode is always directly under the welcome message on the front page. An introductory segment is given with a link (Read More) to the entire episode at the end.
Beneath the current episode, is the previous episode, and beneath that links to several prior episodes. So you may get all you need from the home page.
Story to date is for those joining late that don't want to read the earlier episodes to catch up.
Characters brings up a list of the characters of the story with a brief note about them. There are a lot of characters, and until you get to know them, you will need this. There are three families and while only a few from each will probably account for most of the action, the others will come in from time to time.

soverindi.com - This is a link to the parent site of Our Tangled Web. soverindi.com began as a site to promote the e-book, "The Place to Stand," in which the word "soverindi" originated. A second e-book, "A Most Sacred Right," was added. Both books celebrate the sovereign individual and deal with the difficulties facing sovereign individuals in today's world. The protagonists act, in the face of overwhelming odds, to live as free and sovereign individuals. They develop numerous strategies to accomplish their ends. This site is being revised to expand on those strategies and the motivation of the characters, with the hope that it might aid in improving the environment for all who would be sovereign individuals.
